JX

or Junior Excellence is a standard set by Swimming Australia. It is designed to provide a national framework to develop Australia’s future talent.

It recognises, rewards and provides incentives for junior swimmers to achieve their targets and develop into this talent.

The JX program is broken down into 4 tiers that correlate to our development squads, Green and Bronze, and our competitive squads, Silver and Gold.

The qualifying times are reviewed on an annual basis and must be obtained at a Swimming WA sanctioned meet. More information can be found at JX

Do I have to compete

No of course not, this is your swimming journey and we are here to help you along the way.

We will however encourage you to participate in some form of competition. This could be at the very relaxed atmosphere of Riverside club days or up the ante a little and enter in some Swimming WA sanctioned meets.

Competition is the best way to put all your hard work at training into action, measure your improvements, provide some motivation and have a whole lot of fun. They also provide coaches with a fantastic feedback tool.

Club Days

are Riversides in house friendly competition.

Club days are held regularly throughout the summer season and culminate in club championships where many awards are up for grabs.

Club days provide the best introduction to racing. Swimmers compete against each other however the aim is to beat your previous personal best (PB).

Target Meets

are the Swimming WA sanctioned meets our swimmers should attend and are set by the club and coaching team.

Whilst other meets are available swimmers should ONLY be attending target meets. This is to ensure that athletes are racing at appropriate times in the training program and that a coach is present when racing.

Racing too often can be detrimental to a swimmers development both physically and mentally. Should a swimmer wish to compete outside a target meet please ensure that you speak with your coach first.

Pool Entry

Swimmers are required to pay pool entry each time they enter the aquatic center. This can be paid session to session or a multipass, or membership to Stirling Leisure Centers Inglewood can be purchased. Information on rates and memberships can be found at Stirling Leisure Centers Inglewood

Pool Entry for swimmers and their family is free on Riverside club days.
